Costume process & pattern making:
Chick’s whole shtick is danger and fire and fearlessness. She is very rude and smokes half a pack a day. So I thought it would be awesome to give her a cutesy little look consisting of an A-line dress and some Mary-Jane’s. At first, I considered a pair of white ruffled bloomers to peek out from under the super short dress, kind of mimicking the tail feathers that chickens have, but ultimately I ended up on a petticoat (similar to picture 1) instead to increase the volume of the dress. The petticoat was pleated and had a lace trim to give more oomph. Of course, to make her even more adorable, I just had to add a lace collar (like the one in picture 2). The look was only fully complete with her 2 foot long silver sword in hand.
