Costume process & pattern making:
Frog is a suspicious character with dubious intentions. He is the leader of the group, the ringmaster of the circus, and as such his costume needed to reflect his position of authority. Looking into what ringmasters typically wear, there is always the iconic jacket/vest (such as pictures 1 & 2), which is the braided military jacket type. I decided to give him a two piece suit with a matching vest and trouser in a burgundy cotton velveteen. The pants were difficult to get right, because the circumference of his waist was quite a bit larger than the rest of him. The vest, however, came together easily. I thought that when arranged in a certain way, the little hooks from a hook and eye kit looked just like that braided detailing on some of those jackets! (picture 3)
